These sensors are encapsulated in a glass-ceramic matrix with a positive temperature coefficient according to DIN EN 60751. The use of platinum as the resistive material ensures long term stability of the product and the leads are platinum-nickel wire, silver-nickel, pure platinum or silver-palladium. Platinum-nickel wire is used in various grades for conventional products; silver-nickel is suitable for low to medium temperature products; pure platinum is generally used for soldering applications requiring higher application temperatures; and silver-palladium is generally used for low temperature soldering applications.
